Marcy Turbine NS-6050RE Magnetic Rowing Machine Review

Marcy Turbine NS-6050RE Magnetic Rowing Machine

Gray Marcy Turbine NS-6050RE is the new 2016 model rowing machine with magnetic resistance for smoother gliding and 8 different tension levels to let you customise your exercise with different levels of challenge, a sturdy stainless steel frame for durability so you can expect many years of use out of it, a computerised but not super fancy LCD display panel that works with 2 x AAA batteries (not included) with common performance indicators like calories, distance, speed, time, rpm for you to track your progress. Like other rowing machines there is no heart rate pulse reader in product specs as it would be hard to put on the smaller single pull bar of the rower. As a comfortable rowing machine it comes with a solid yet very comfy seat that is adequately foam padded and adjustable but somewhat thin foot straps to increase both your comfort and safety and will accommodate very large feet as well. You will experience even, smooth and rhytmic movement consistently on this solid and stable rower and the exercise itself is quite low impact so as not to put burden on your knees. It is relatively quiet and all your hear is a pleasant sound that comes from the fan breeze.

Being a very solid and heavy duty rowing machine, Marcy Turbine weighs 87 pounds, has a 300 pound maximum user weight limit and measures 55 x 24 x 12 inches and will take up 7 to 8 feet of space on your floor so it has a fairly large footprint. With the folding design of the frame and two very small caster wheels underneath to move it around and bear this in mind if you are short in space in your house and be careful not to damage your wooden floors when relocating the unit. It is sent partly assembled and you should be able to put the pieces together in less than an hour or so on your own so it is rather easy to do with the nicely written and clear instructions and the hex wrench. 300 lbs weight limit may not sound like a lot and in practice this thing is reported to feel much more stable and solid than other similar weight capacity rowers. 8 levels of tension is easy to change but serves more aerobic and cardiovascular purposes in a balanced workout rather than strength or resistance training. You have a single pull bar rather than independent motion handles so it lacks a bit of range of motion but is easier to use without needing much of a coordination but it does not feel like an actual water motion rowing machine either and is not priced as such.
